The “Skelya” Regiment responded to the media investigation into the deaths of soldiers
The 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” has responded to a journalistic investigation into the service in the unit and the death of servicemen. The command stated that they are ready to cooperate with the investigation, but urged not to draw conclusions until all checks are completed.
This is stated in the regiment’s official statement on Telegram.
“Skel” expressed condolences to the families of the deceased servicemen and emphasized that each case requires a separate investigation. According to the command, it is necessary to assess the circumstances only after studying documents, investigation conclusions, and other official materials.
The regiment also stated that they disagree with a number of generalizations made in the media publication. In particular, they claim that of the 26 deaths mentioned, 18 occurred in hospitals or on the way to them and were related to illnesses or health conditions of the mobilized soldiers.
The command also emphasized that the regiment does not engage in mobilization, but receives servicemen after passing a military medical commission. At the same time, the statement noted that some of the testimonies in the journalistic material belong to people who, according to the regiment, voluntarily left military units or refused to serve. “Skel” emphasized that such testimonies require verification, but did not automatically reject them.
The unit added that it is ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, the military ombudsman, and other authorized structures. The regiment also reported that it will conduct additional analysis of the issues raised in the publication and strengthen mechanisms for responding to servicemen’s appeals.
Recall that at least 26 recruits of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” died from the end of 2025 to the spring of 2026.
