President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has identified priority areas of work for the newly elected Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, among which airspace protection occupies a special place.

Military analyst Oleksiy Getman, in a conversation on the “Pryamiy” channel , analyzed the prospects for creating air defense based on artificial intelligence.

Although the introduction of the latest systems and the use of interceptor drones is a step forward, the expert urges not to perceive this as an instant magical solution to all problems.

“Against each target, certain means of striking must be used. There are no means of striking that can work equally effectively against drones or ballistic missiles. Such things do not exist in nature,” emphasized Oleksiy Getman.

In addition to technological aspects, the official will have to solve complex issues of mobilization and formation of a contract army. The analyst noted that the cessation of the so-called “busification” without creating a proper replacement could provoke the collapse of the front in just a week.

At the same time, he gave the example of the defenders of Pokrovsk, who are holding the defense and need rotation. According to the Hetman, the situation requires considered decisions at the legislative level and active work by the media to increase the prestige of military service, and not just loud promises about a quick solution to problems.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a conversation with the media, identified three key tasks for the new Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov. The priorities were the protection of the sky, the settlement of mobilization issues, and the functioning of the contract army.

Earlier, the Minister of Defense stated that a large-scale transformation of the unmanned direction is underway in Ukraine: the state is preparing its own alternative to Chinese Mavic drones, launching a digital Mission Control system, and forming special units to destroy enemy UAV operators.
