The US is preparing a new attempt to resume negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

The United States plans to intensify diplomatic efforts to resume talks between Ukraine and Russia in the coming weeks. At the same time, Washington recognizes that the success of this initiative is not guaranteed due to the positions of the parties.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that in the coming weeks the United States will make new efforts to explore the possibility of resuming negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and ending the war.

“Over the next few weeks, you’re going to see some efforts to see if we can get negotiations back between Russia and Ukraine and end this war,” Rubio said.

At the same time, the US Secretary of State emphasized that a positive outcome is not guaranteed, as both sides have clearly defined positions on key issues.

“We also understand that both sides have pretty clear red lines, and until we can bring those red lines a little closer together, we won’t achieve the desired outcome,” Rubio said.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. After the talks, the Ukrainian leader reported that the parties discussed strengthening Ukrainian air defense, joint production of interceptors for Patriot systems, and further diplomatic steps.

As reported, the US Senate has completed work on a bill on new tough sanctions against Russia. The document provides for economic pressure not only on Moscow, but also on countries that continue to buy Russian oil and gas.
