A new strain of coronavirus, Stratus, is spreading across Ukraine. Symptoms include hoarseness or complete loss of voice, cough, and laryngopharyngitis. Despite the lack of lockdowns, it is worth following safety measures: wearing masks, washing hands, and avoiding contact with sick people.

“Currently, we have a new product on the market of infections – coronavirus and its new strain Stratus or XFG. This is a new strain of the virus that causes very pronounced weakness. People simply fall off their feet, feeling very tired. With such a “covid” we have a very poor blood reaction. When we do a general blood test, we do not see any changes. This may indicate that the immune system is turning on late. Therefore, you definitely need to see a doctor to be examined and given recommendations,” Oleshchenko noted.

According to her, the main symptom of this new strain is a hoarse voice or loss of voice, similar to laryngopharyngitis, which is inflammation in the throat area.

“This cannot be considered a high epidemic, in which restaurants or business centers are closed. We just need to protect ourselves. The 2020-2021 pandemic taught us to wear masks, wash our hands, treat them with antiseptic, and avoid contact with people who are coughing,” the doctor emphasizes.

“Many new infections are now appearing, including rhinosyncytial and metapneumovirus, which we also diagnose in our patients. I want to emphasize that there is no specific treatment, and you need to treat symptomatically. The sooner you see a doctor with symptoms, the sooner you will receive medical care that can reduce your symptoms and save your life,” explains Vita Oleshchenko, a family doctor at the Singapore Medical Center.
