The Netherlands will provide Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets with necessary maintenance, spare parts and ammunition. The country seeks to strengthen Ukrainian air defense capabilities in the face of massive Russian attacks.

This is stated in a post by Dutch Prime Minister Rob Etienne on the social network X.

According to Yetten, during a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the parties discussed the needs of Ukrainian aviation. In particular, they discussed the lack of maintenance, spare parts, and ammunition for the F-16.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands stated that his country is ready to help Ukraine meet these needs.

“Further strengthening of Ukrainian air defense is literally a matter of life and death,” Yetten emphasized.

He noted that Russia continues to escalate its aggression, as demonstrated once again by the strikes on Kyiv last weekend. According to the prime minister, Moscow is deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, trying to make Ukrainian cities uninhabitable and damage the economy ahead of winter.

“We cannot allow this,” Yetten wrote.

The Prime Minister also stated that the Netherlands, together with its allies, continues to monitor Russian provocations against other countries.

It was previously reported thatUkraine is in talks with European countries and manufacturers to supply tens of thousands of 20mm ammunition for F-16s. They are seen as a quick and relatively inexpensive way to combat Russian jet drones. At the same time, some of the Ukrainian F-16s have problems with maintenance.

In addition, Belgium plans to complete the transfer of three F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the near future. For this, the country needs to obtain official approval from France.
