Flamingo Strike: Ukrainian Missiles Hit Drone Systems Factory—Satellite Images Reveal Damage

Ukrainian FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles and AN-196 “Lyuty” drones struck the production facilities of the VNIIR-Progress defense plant in Cheboksary, which is located approximately 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

This is reported by the CyberBoroshno project.

According to the results of the analysis of satellite images, one of the Flamingo missiles hit the front of the main building of the enterprise at an angle.

The building was protected by anti-drone nets, which may indicate its particular importance for the plant’s operations.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ also posted a video of the damaged main building. The footage shows serious damage to the facade and interior spaces.

A large fire broke out inside and around the building after the impact. A construction crane was later spotted near the building, likely being used to clear debris or dismantle damaged structures.

Separately, two AN-196 “Lyuty” drones hit another building of the enterprise, which also caused a fire.

The plant was struck on the night of May 5. The use of Flamingo missiles was confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The launches were carried out by units of the 19th separate missile brigade “Svyata Varvara,” which previously used tactical ballistic missiles of the “Tochka-U” complex.

VNIIR-Progress produces GNSS receivers and antennas for the GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo systems, including the Comet modules that Russia uses in Shahed kamikaze drones, Iskander-M and Caliber missiles, and UMPK bombs.

The company also produces electrical equipment for the Russian fleet, including nuclear submarines of the Yasen-M project.

It was previously reported that on the night of May 5, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched strikes on several important military and industrial facilities of the Russian army, including the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary and the Kiryshsky oil refinery in the Leningrad region.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, May 5, drones attacked the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation. An oil refinery in the city of Kirishi was hit, after which a fire broke out there.
