“Undoubted conclusion”: Romania confirms Russian origin of drone that hit residential building

Romania has determined that a drone that crashed and hit a residential building in the city of Galati is of Russian origin. The conclusion was made based on the results of a technical investigation by state specialists.
This was announced by Romanian President Nikosor Dan.
According to the technical report, the drone’s wreckage contained the marking “GERAN-2” in Cyrillic letters, indicating its Russian origin.
Experts also found that the electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, engine, and structural elements match other drones of this type that have previously been found in Romania.
It is separately noted that the production markings, technical specifications, and materials used correspond to the Geran-2 series of drones, which were previously identified as being manufactured in the Russian Federation.
Chemical analyses confirmed the use of the same types of materials and fuel that have already been recorded in drones of this type.
The investigation also found that the drone crash in Galati resulted in damage to a residential building and injuries among civilians.
The Romanian side stated that the results of the investigation will be shared with allies in NATO and the European Union .
Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that a Russian drone crashed into a residential building in the Romanian city of Galati on May 29. After the impact, a fire broke out, and two people were injured.
Later, NATO condemned the downing of a Russian drone on a residential building in Romania and called the Russian Federation’s actions irresponsible. The Romanian Foreign Minister stated that after the incident with the drone falling on a residential building in Romania, NATO may apply Article 4 on consultations with allies.
By the way, Romanian President Nikos Dan announced the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Constanta and the expulsion of the Russian consul after a Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Galati. The incident injured two civilians.
