Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has identified his desired opponent for the final fight of his professional career. His team announced that the Ukrainian’s final opponent will be American Deontay Wilder.

This is reported by BBC Sport .

According to Lapin, Usyk is considering former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder as an opponent for his final fight in the professional ring.

“Usyk has already stated that he sees Deontay Wilder as an opponent for his ‘last dance.’ This is a fight that has significant potential from a sporting, media and international perspective,” said Sergey Lapin.

He noted that there are currently no specific agreements on organizing the fight. According to Lapin, a fight of this level requires an appropriate partner, venue, broadcast platform and scale of the event. Most likely, the fight will take place in the United States, but the date and venue have not yet been determined.

The team director also reported that negotiations are ongoing with the Zuffa Boxing promotion company.

“We are in direct negotiations with Zuffa Boxing at the highest level. At this stage, no agreements have been signed. Zuffa Boxing is being considered as one of the potential partners for holding a major international tournament. The final structure will be determined taking into account the best interests of the fight, the fighters, and the overall scale of the project,” added Sergey Lapin.

At the end of last year, Usyk already expressed his desire to fight Wilder, but then the negotiations ended in vain.

The Ukrainian boxer fought his last fight on the night of May 24 in the Egyptian city of Giza, where he defeated Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven by technical knockout. In his professional career, the 39-year-old Usyk has won 25 victories, 16 of which were by knockout, and has not suffered a single defeat.

Recall that on June 26, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk announced that he was giving up all of his championship belts . At the same time, the athlete announced that he was not ending his career and would have one more fight.
