The appearance of interviews with the persons involved in the NABU investigation, Timur Mindich and Oleksandr Zukerman, is an attempt to reassure that part of society that still believes in the non-involvement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in corruption scandals.
This is how former Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva commented on the recent media activity surrounding those involved in NABU’s anti-corruption investigations on the air of “Pryamoy”.
He particularly drew attention to the fact that the suspects were able to leave Ukraine without hindrance immediately before the start of investigative actions.
“Misha (UP journalist Mykhailo Tkach – ed.) gives the floor to Mindich, and he tells him that everything is fine, so that God forbid the number of holy people does not decrease. This is called working for President Zelensky. No more,” the former official noted.
At the same time, Reva expressed surprise at how journalists managed to find people so quickly who Ukrainian special services were unable to find or detain.
According to Reva, Mindich left the country in an elite taxi from Lviv just four hours before the searches began, which indicates that he had insider information.
The former minister also compared the terms of the sanctions, noting that Mindić was only sentenced to three years, while political opponents of the government were sentenced to life. He characterized the current situation as a shameful attempt to protect the Office of the President from corruption allegations.
The day before, businessman Timur Mindic publicly commented for the first time on the NABU investigation into large-scale corruption and money laundering in the energy sector. He stated that he considers himself “designated guilty” due to media pressure and difficult circumstances.
Meanwhile, during a journalistic investigation in Israel , the Ukrainska Pravda film crew was attacked by security guards . Among the victims was the head of the publication’s investigations department, Mykhailo Tkach. The UP team traveled to Israel to establish the whereabouts of Timur Mindich, a figure in a high-profile anti-corruption case.
Earlier, this businessman, who is suspected of corruption in the energy sector and against whom sanctions have been imposed, stated that he has no intention of returning to Ukraine . He calls the investigation against him manipulative.
Meanwhile, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, during an undercover operation , exposed an organized criminal group that included current members of parliament. According to the investigation, the group’s members systematically received illegal benefits in exchange for voting in the Verkhovna Rada.
