Yermak’s Lesson to the Nation: Corruption Isn’t Private — It’s a Security Breach

Private corruption is not a “domestic matter” — it directly erodes national security and the sovereignty of the state. Yermak has just provided the proof.

This is the most toxic person, who was not elected to wield such powers but obtained them through personal relations with Zelenskyy. How one fully adult man can so strongly influence the decisions of another capable adult man is a mystery to me.

From the more recent examples — I still do not understand the idea behind the OP’s PR team posting a short video of Yermak “defending red lines” on Zoom, with gestures and statements about these very red lines.

So it turns out that Trump’s associates, the Witkoffs, found a weak spot — the incompetence and corruption of certain individuals from Zelenskyy’s entourage — to twist our arm and impose a Russia-related scapegoat. This is bad because the President should have heard the signals from the people who elected him long ago, and those signals were simple: finally roll up your sleeves.

Good science shows why reputation matters in critical affairs — and what the pursuit of personal enrichment leads to when your country is fighting for survival. It leads to collapse and forces a choice: either grant yourself indulgence or defend the national interest.

The irony is that Zelenskyy and Yermak often mocked Minsk I and Minsk II. Yet the greatest sarcasm lies elsewhere: Leonid Kuchma, who headed the negotiating group at the time, was not under suspicion and retained the status of a former president, despite being a rather controversial figure.
