Accused of beating a chaplain and an officer: the State Bureau of Investigation reported a soldier from the “Skelya” regiment to be suspected
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have detained a serviceman of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya”, who is suspected of violence against his colleagues. The investigation is establishing the circumstances of two incidents that injured a military chaplain and a lieutenant colonel.

Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Oleksiy Sukhachev, said that the investigation into possible abuses in the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” is one of the department’s priority areas of work. According to him, the actions of each commander will be given a legal assessment.
According to the investigation, the first incident occurred in May 2025 near one of the villages of the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region, where servicemen from another unit arrived after completing combat missions. During the conflict over the placement of personnel and equipment, the military chaplain tried to resolve the situation, but the suspect punched him in the face several times. As a result, the chaplain was hospitalized with a concussion and a fractured jaw.
The second episode, according to the investigation, occurred in June 2025 in the city of Barvinkove, Kharkiv region. According to investigators, the junior sergeant attacked a lieutenant colonel, who was older than him in military rank, knocked him down and punched and kicked him in the head and torso. As a result of the attack, the officer suffered a fractured rib.
Currently, the serviceman is charged with violating the statutory rules of relations between servicemen and violence against a superior under martial law under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Yuriy Harkavy, commander of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skel”, was suspended from duty for the duration of the service checks. This decision was made after an investigation by the publication “Babel”, which discussed possible deaths, torture and abuse of mobilized personnel during training at the regiment’s training centers.
It was also reported that at least 26 recruits of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” died from late 2025 to spring 2026.
