Bloody massacre in Iran: why world leaders ignored the protests

Mass unrest in Iran has led to a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe that world leaders have virtually ignored. Diplomat Dmitry Chekalkin analyzed the motivations of US President Donald Trump’s decisions through the prism of the influence of big business on the air of “Pryamoye”.
He believes that behind Donald Trump’s political steps are the interests of the richest people in the world, which directly affected the events in Iran.
“Trump is probably focusing on their capabilities. And, unfortunately, what he did today really provoked, in a way, large segments of the population to take to the streets and promised them support,” the studio guest explains.
The diplomat noted the presence of Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Elon Musk at the inauguration, whose combined wealth exceeds that of the poorest half of the US population. It was because of financial arrangements with the regime that Ayatollah Trump refused to attack Iran, despite earlier promises to support the protesters.
Chekalkin recalled that the consequences of such actions were the deaths of a large number of young Iranians and the complete lack of protection for the civilian population. The main reason for the protests was the catastrophic economic conditions and inflation, which reached 700%. Despite calls for change, the regime uses weapons against its own citizens.
“This number has already appeared. And, unfortunately, there really is no third party today. Some estimate it to be up to 30 thousand. If for every 20 demonstrators there is at least one armed, so-called defender of the regime, who is ready to open fire without any hesitation, then it is easy to overcome such resistance,” Chekalkin noted.
According to him, the situation is complicated by the fact that the Iranian opposition remains dispersed, and the lack of consolidated power and support from outside allows the elite of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to maintain control.
While the children of the regime’s leaders enjoy luxury in Switzerland and Austria, ordinary Iranians are dying under the bullets of security forces, and the economic collapse caused by problems in the banking system only deepens the gap between the authorities and the people, emphasizes Dmitry Chekalkin.
As is known,a wave of mass protests broke out in Iran at the end of last year, caused by the rapid fall of the national currency and the worsening economic crisis. Against the backdrop of the collapse of the Iranian rial, the ayatollah regime is increasingly losing control of the situation, which is causing open resistance in various regions of the country.
Donald Trump later said the United States could intervene in Iran’s internal affairs if peaceful protests were violently suppressed. He stressed that the United States was ready to support the demonstrators if the Iranian authorities used lethal force.
On January 13, US President Donald Trump once again expressed support for Iranians participating in the protests that have erupted in the country. The head of state said that he had canceled all meetings with Iranian officials and stressed that aid for the protesters was on the way .
Estimates of the number of people killed in the protests range from over 3,000 (human rights activists) to several thousand (Iranian regime, as stated by Khamenei) and even 12,000-20,000 (activists and media estimates), although exact figures are difficult to establish due to censorship and communication suppression. Human rights activists report at least 3,090 deaths, mostly protesters, but the authorities blame the violence on “terrorists” and external forces.
