Degradation of Russian transport aviation: where did the Antonov planes go?

The Russian Federation’s fleet of military transport vehicles is rapidly losing combat capability due to international sanctions and the severance of technological ties with Ukraine. Internal documents from Rostec Corporation indicate a deep crisis in the maintenance of Antonov aircraft.
Aviation expert Kostyantyn Kryvolap reported this on the air of “Pryamoy”.
According to him, out of 368 aircraft of the An-12, An-26, and An-72 models, almost 143 aircraft require emergency repairs. Moreover, the situation is so serious that it has already led to plane crashes involving the Russian military high command.
Kryvolap notes that the occupiers are trying to extend the service life of old Soviet aircraft as much as possible, since there is simply no alternative for transportation in the Far East and the North. “The An-26 is now one of the remaining aircraft that can be used for military transport,” the studio guest informs.
At the same time, says Kryvolap, airlines are trying to convince Rosaviatsia to allow the operation of the An-24 and An-26 beyond the established norms, but despite the reliability of Antonov’s designs, the lack of spare parts and service support makes these flights dangerous. Russian factories that previously produced these models have turned into real estate, the aviation expert summed up.
Recall, Ukraine has been under pressure from foreign allies, whoare asking to stop attacks on Russia’s oil refining infrastructure due to fears of rising world prices. Partners from the US and Europe argue this with instability in the energy market. However, politician and former military man Volodymyr Omelyan considers this position unfair, as it does not take into account the daily losses of Ukrainians on the front.
