Drones and Trump: Why the US is not ready for war with Iran

Zelensky boasted that Ukraine now “has the cards” in its dealings with Western allies. This concerns drones, air defense, and strike drones, in the production and use of which Ukraine is currently number one in the world.
Military experts are at a loss – how did it happen that the US turned out to be unprepared for mass attacks by Iranian “Shaheeds” given that the same Shaheds (Tehranians) have been attacking Ukraine for several years?! The Americans, in turn, are promptly working on mistakes, they are involving Ukrainian “experts” in the protection of their facilities in the Persian Gulf region.
There have been reports that Trump’s sons are planning to buy out Ukrainian drone production or production technology and begin supplying the US military.
What happened? How did it happen that the States were unprepared?
Let me say right away that I will present here exclusively my view as a person who has been involved in the topic of drones for many years (since 2015) and who sees the picture through the eyes of a UAV instructor. I will not say what is not allowed. Don’t worry.
For starters. Not just the US. All NATO armies, in my opinion, categorically underestimate the importance of drones. Why are France and the States there? Poland has every opportunity to get acquainted with Ukrainian military experience – and does not draw any critical conclusions. Adopting experience, creating its own equipment, conducting maneuvers, changing strategic defense plans – if the Poles do something like this, it is somehow too imperceptible.
We have heard it more than once: “If Moscow had attacked Poland through Belarus instead of us, it would have stopped only at the Atlantic coast.” The joke is actually very sad.
Why is that? I will express my opinion. For a very long time, the West has had the prevailing opinion that the Russian-Ukrainian war is a conflict of “poverty with poverty”. That the massive use of drones by Ukrainians and Russians is solely due to poverty. They say that we lack shells and homing missiles – so we save ourselves with drones. And the Russians do the same. And in NATO countries, they say, there are no problems with shells or missiles. Therefore, in the event of war…
Exactly the same way, on the eve of World War II, American generals were convinced that the main striking power of the army was infantry + artillery. And “tanks are for… tyukhtiyas”. Then they slept through the blitzkrieg of Hitler’s generals in Poland. History repeats itself.
In fact, I think the reason is not because of stupid “oversleeping.” The reason is the arms lobby, which found it more profitable to sell homing missiles to the US army, rather than cheap drones.
But Iran has put everything in its place. Now, when the Americans are forced to fight off the Shahids with Patriots and aviation, it becomes clear that the drone war is serious and long-term. And Ukraine has a significant competitive advantage here.
I will say more. It is quite realistic that the Americans will have to set up a no-go zone along the coast of the Strait of Armuz – to secure the passage of tankers and so that no “warrior of Allah” will fire at the Iranian-Russian “Tehran” from there. And then Ukraine’s positions will skyrocket. Because we know how to create no-go zones, and the Americans do not.
And this is not the end. Drone operators know very well that drones alone are only half the battle. Coordination of the work of drone units is also needed. For this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the Delta and Nettle programs. Whether the Americans have something similar – let the relevant specialists tell us.
Undoubtedly, Ukraine is currently experiencing its golden age. We have created a branch of the armed forces, the need for which no longer needs to be proven. We are being asked for help. We are being offered partnership. When during the ATO at the “ArmySOS” I was teaching how to fly drones, my first groups of cadets, I had no idea that this would happen.
Therefore, I will remind you of something that the green government would clearly prefer not to mention. The first thing that the then-chief of staff, Valeriy Zaluzhny, spoke about was the need to develop military technologies, because war is a long-term thing.
And so. The first companies and battalions of strike drones in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were created under Zaluzhny and thanks to Zaluzhny. And the first groups of FPV drone pilots at the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to train precisely under Zaluzhny. I saw it myself.
The green government then told us about coffee in Crimea.
