Authoritarian tones are increasingly heard in Ukraine, causing concern in the international community. At the same time, recent personnel rotations in the Cabinet of Ministers took place contrary to the legislation, which reduces the trust of Western partners, so it is worth creating a government truly independent of Bankova.

This was stated on the air of “Pryamoy” by Maria Ionova, a People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity”.

“International media have repeatedly noted and given serious signals that authoritarian notes are increasingly heard in Ukraine. Here, the issue of our European aspiration and the difficult struggle for democracy, when we pay such a high price, suggests that we must do everything possible to ensure that these institutions are independent and capable. In accordance with the procedures prescribed in the Constitution of Ukraine, we should follow them,” Ionova noted.

At the same time, according to them, recent personnel rotations in the government took place contrary to the legislation, which reduces the trust of Western partners in the current government.

“I am very sorry to state that what happened in recent days was illegal and not in accordance with procedures. Such approaches contradict our European integration commitments. Each time, Zelensky and Bankova test the patience of our European friends, understanding that it is important for the free world that Ukraine continues to fight the aggressor, and they are trying their best to help,” the MP explains.

“It’s not serious. Because they were fired, and no one really reported properly. We know that every year there should be a vote of confidence in the program that the government is implementing… You know, people and horses got mixed up. This is something that can be done normally and according to the procedures that, first of all, the legislation allows. The main issue is the so-called monomajority, which does not exist. Imitation of a monomajority also undermines trust,” Ionova added.

Therefore, the elected representative once again called for the creation of a Government of National Unity, which would be independent of the Office of the President.

“Zelensky will never realize that a Government of National Unity is important, where there will be crisis managers who will make decisions, take responsibility, will not be dependent, will not be a branch of Bankova. The authorities should think about it, because once again we are paying an extremely high price for remaining a democracy. We will definitely stand guard over democratic principles and our European, Euro-Atlantic future,” Ionova emphasized.

She cited the international direction, in particular cooperation with the United States, as an example of the current government’s poor policy.

“Here we can systematically talk about foreign policy, which, unfortunately, has now passed into such one-man management, especially that which concerns Ukrainian-American relations, because I cannot separate Zelenskyy and Yermak separately. We see this monopoly of the Ukrainian-American line, although in any case, the constancy of bipartisan support, the constancy of institutions, whatever the special period of Trump’s presidency, in any case, our task is to return to more professional, broad, comprehensive diplomacy in the context of our strategic relations,” noted Maria Ionova, a people’s deputy from European Solidarity.

As a reminder, the Financial Times, in its article “Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused of worsening authoritarian regime after anti-corruption raids,” listed cases that indicate a rollback of democracy in Ukraine . Politicians, activists, and diplomats accuse Zelenskyy and his top aides of using the extraordinary powers granted by martial law to suppress critics, silence civil society leaders, and tighten control.

At the same time, Petro Poroshenko, during the discussion of the candidacy of the Prime Minister in the Verkhovna Rada, stated that the actual absence of the “Servants of the People” coalition makes this vote unconstitutional . “Currently, 231 deputies of the monomajority coalition are a fake. Some of them are hiding from corruption bodies abroad, some of them definitely do not support the candidacy of the Prime Minister and are not members of the coalition,” Poroshenko stated.
