Putin’s real plan: when the war in Ukraine will end

The Lithuanian president’s statement that the war will last another three years is based on NATO intelligence, so this information may be true. Especially since Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has not abandoned plans to completely occupy Ukraine and is already preparing a general mobilization of Russians.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Taras Berezovets, a Ukrainian political strategist, journalist, and major of the 1st separate special forces brigade named after Ivan Bohun.
“I don’t know what the Lithuanian president was guided by. NATO countries exchange intelligence with each other. And with Ukraine in particular. But I have no doubt that Putin is not going to end this war in two years, or three, or five, if he does not achieve the goals of the war that he started against Ukraine back in 2014. And this goal involves the occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine. He is not interested exclusively in the Odessa region, Mykolaiv region, Kyiv. No, he wants to seize everything up to our western border and completely destroy Ukraine,” Berezovets noted.
According to him, such predictions by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda are based on NATO intelligence data.
“As for how much Russia is capable of waging this war, Nauseda’s assessment almost coincides with NATO intelligence estimates. Recently, it was published – it seems that Bloomberg did this – data that Russia can fight at least until the end of 2027. That is, the entire year 2025, 2026, 2027. Thus, I think Nauseda’s forecast is based approximately on these same intelligence,” the military officer added.
At the same time, as he emphasizes, Russia currently needs to change its mobilization model, despite the involvement of the North Korean contingent, so the question of general mobilization of Russians will later arise.
“In this regard, the Russians are already resorting to external borrowing. A new batch of North Korean mercenaries, as reported from South Korea, is being announced, in particular, in the parliamentary committee of the South Korean parliament on defense. A new batch of North Koreans may arrive in the Kursk region as early as July. We are talking primarily about sappers. But in general, it is clear that Putin will obviously need to make up his mind,” Berezovets explains.
“The current mobilization model with its huge costs has already begun to falter, primarily due to the lack of funds in the Russian budget. Therefore, another way out is to announce a general mobilization. This is actually a very dangerous step for the Kremlin regime. Putin has been avoiding it all this time. This measure will, of course, be unpopular. But Putin is beginning to be actively pressured by the so-called “hawks” in his entourage, who want to end this war as soon as possible and, of course, end it with a victory over Ukraine,” the major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
On the eve of the meeting, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that the war in Ukraine is unlikely to end in the next three years due to Russia’s lack of genuine will for peace. He expressed hope that the war could end before the start of the new EU multiannual budget in 2028, but currently sees no signs of light at the end of the tunnel.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund is basing its forecast for Ukraine’s economy on the assumption that the war will end in 2025. The IMF estimated Ukraine’s population at 32.9 million, based on a baseline scenario in which the war ends by the end of this year and some refugees return home.
It should be noted that in March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict could end in a decent peace this year .
