On Tuesday, September 8, the Earth was already covered by a red-level magnetic storm — the K-index rose to 5 points. Geomagnetic activity will remain high on September 9, and should weaken to a green level on September 10.

This is evidenced by data from the Meteoagent portal.

According to the service, the K-index is currently about 5 points, which corresponds to the red level of geomagnetic activity.

Geomagnetic activity will remain high on Wednesday, September 9. After that, the storm should subside.

On Thursday, September 10, the K-index is forecast at 3 points — this is already a green level, meaning a significant decrease in geomagnetic activity.

According to Meteoprog, the Earth’s magnetosphere is also in an excited state on September 8. During the previous day, one class B flare and two class C flares were recorded on the Sun, which usually do not have a significant impact on the Earth.

Magnetic storms can be accompanied by changes in well-being in meteosensitive people. Among the symptoms that people most often associate with such periods are headaches, fatigue, dizziness, sleep disturbances and mood changes. At the same time, the reaction to geomagnetic activity is individual.

How to survive a period of magnetic activity

On such days, it is worth not to overload the body and stick to your usual regimen. Among the simple recommendations are full sleep, sufficient water, walks in the fresh air, and less physical and emotional stress. They also advise not to abuse coffee and alcohol.

If you experience a severe headache, severe weakness, dizziness, or other unusual symptoms, you should not automatically attribute them to a magnetic storm — the Ministry of Health emphasizes that the direct impact of geomagnetic activity on headaches and other symptoms does not have sufficient scientific evidence. If you feel worse, you should consult a doctor.
