US President Donald Trump, during a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, called on Ukraine to launch an offensive on the front, but this is possible only if appropriate conditions are created, including new weapons and reserves.

This was reported on the air of “Pryamoy” by Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer of the “Information Resistance” group.

“To say that we must attack because we cannot win on defense is obvious. General Syrsky regularly emphasizes this, but the problem is completely different. The problem is that appropriate conditions are created. In 2023, a defensive strategy was chosen because in 2023 the Russian military-industrial complex reached its peak. These were the highest indicators of production and restoration of Russian weapons and equipment. Our task was not so much to fight them head-on, but to delay and exhaust the enemy,” Kovalenko noted.

In his opinion, Ukraine has coped with this task, because the Russian military-industrial complex has suffered huge losses.

“Because now we see 2025, and they are advancing on foot. Most of all the assaults are on foot or on motorcycles… I’m not saying that they are finished. No, they have production, but this production does not allow them to compensate for the losses they are incurring. And all the bulk that was there has already been lost. Therefore, yes, of course, at some point we must go on the counteroffensive, but for this there must be appropriate conditions,” explains the military-political observer

Such conditions, he said, must be created both on the battlefield and in the army, including the provision of weapons and the creation of reserves.

“Creating reserves not only of human resources, but also of equipment, ammunition, and much more. In addition, a very important aspect is dominance in the air, at least in the airspace of Ukraine. And the second point is the influence on the territory of the Russian Federation, so that at a crucial moment it is possible, for example, to disrupt their logistics. Destroy the very Kerch Bridge, destroy any railway, transport hub. This requires a range of weapons that we do not yet have from the USA. And permission to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation at maximum capabilities according to the characteristics of the weapons that we receive from partners,” Kovalenko noted.

In addition, he commented on information in Western media about the possibility of providing Ukraine with American Tomahawk missiles.

“If we talk about a 100% probability, then there is always 1%. 99% – no, and 1% – yes. Because, firstly, the Tomahawk is a missile that is used from sea-based launchers… The land carriers in the US are experimental Typhoons. There are only two batteries of them. These are prototypes that continue to undergo testing. I have great doubts that we can get them,” the expert believes.

“But if our diplomacy is at a sufficiently high level and can achieve understanding from Donald Trump that let’s test your Typhoons in a real war, then we will really be able to get Tomahawks. But convincing Donald Trump of this must be a serious diplomatic effort,” summed up Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer of the Information Resistance group.

Recall, during a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, Donald Trump called on Ukraine to launch an offensive on the front . The US President believes that Ukraine’s defense strategy will not change the course of the war, so it should go on a counteroffensive.

According to sources in the Washington Post, the American president also asked the Ukrainian leader why Ukrainian troops were not striking Moscow. Zelensky replied that this required appropriate weapons.
